Jungle Love

Hey yall!

This past weekend I went to a bridal shower. I wanted something cute and casual so I was itching to wear this skirt I found at the thrift store. I looked at the tag and it was actually made in Hawaii, pretty cool!

And speaking of Jungle Love...I'll leave you with this old school number to jam on by Morris Day and "m*thafreakin" Time!!! (Jay and Silent Bob movie reference)

Polka Dot Pool Party

This past Sunday I stopped over a friend's house for her sister's birthday pool party. It was a lot of fun and good to catch up with some folks I hadn't seen in a while. I wanted to dress casual but cute...you should know by now that's my style...I am in loveeeee with this maxi dress that I got from one of my favorite stores, Ross!! Unfortunately we do not have Ross here in Michigan!! tear!! :-( I bought the dress over the 4th of July holiday. I took a trip to DC and stopped at Ross and found three cute dresses and this is one of them. I love Ross because it is such a bargain. Everyone says its just TJ Maxx but I find the pricing at Ross to be better. I got this dress for $20...you can't beat that with a bat!

my friends baby was not having anything to do with the photo op!

I took these pics after swimming hence the extra wild hair

Maxi Dress: Ross
Earrings: Thrifted
Heels: Cato

The added bonus of this dress is that it has pockets!! I don't know why but I love an unexpected pocket lol. Sorry I didn't take a pic of my shoes...you will see them again I am sure. And if you are wondering I did in fact swim while I was there...no bathing suit pics for me on the WWW lol. I can't believe this was my first time in the pool all summer...I must do better! Have you made it to the pool yet?

Gratzi

For the birthday finale I met up with some old friends. We had a ladies night with dinner and drinks.  We went to Gratzi for dinner. This restaurant came highly recommended by my coworkers and friends. I must say the customer service and ambiance was very nice but for me and a couple of my friends we were not impressed by the food especially considering the cost of our meals. The food lacked taste, depth and left us unsatisfied. Perhaps what we ordered just was not a good choice but it did come recommended by the waitress. Anyways, when I give someone an opinion I tell people to find out for themselves because they may like it. Also, Gratzi changes their menu pretty often it seems so check it out!

Check out what I wore for dinner and drinks...

Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Earrings: thrifted
Bracelet: Avenue
Ring: Evans
Shoes: Torrid

I thought the title of this post "Gratzi" was appropriate, not only because that is the name of the restaurant where we ate for my birthday dinner. But "Gratzi" means "many thanks" in Italian and that is the theme of how I feel about life...very thankful!!! I am very grateful to God for making it to the age of 30!! Not only have I survived these 30 years of life but I have thrived in the face of many obstacles. The best way to show thankfulness is to use what you have been given to the best of your ability!! At this point in my life I will continue to thrive and establish a better legacy for my future, my future children (God willing) and those around me. I pray that you all want the same for your lives as well. Be Blessed!!!!

Torrid from Head to Toe

Hey y'all,

Check out what I wore to the BBQ with my family. This was the first time my family and my boo's family met each other. I was nervous at first worried that people wouldn't get along or interact with each other but let me tell you...it was like a family reunion!! They acted like they had knew each other for years. It was such a great day and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Enjoy the weekend!!!!

Birthday Ballerina

Here is an outfit I wore while out with my boo running errands and enjoying a beautiful summer day. I wanted to wear something light, airy, comfortable and feminine. For some reason this look reminds me of something an edgy but feminine ballerina would wear.

The sun was in my eyes! lol

T-Shirt & Watch - Target
Skirt & Earrings- thrifted
gladiator sandals - Torrid
Bracelet - H&M
Necklace & Headband - ?

If I would wear this outfit again I would wear my hair in a bun with bangs. I think that would really set off the ballerina vibe! Also, I would try this look out with a gray t shirt (not pictured) just like the white tee I have on..it works just as well and provides an extra edge without being overly girly.

30 Something

My 30th birthday was during the last week of June...Shout out to the Cancerians!! Anyways, that's part of the reason I having been posting like I wanted to but luckily I was able to capture a few shots of some of my outfits from the birthday weekend.

First, I decided to throw a list together -

The top 30 things I have learned in advancing to my 30s:

1. At the end of the day no matter what after its all said and done, God's will, will be done on earth.
2. Relationships with family and friends are for a reason and a season but keep in mind that seasons do come back around every year.
3. Taking for granted your health in your 20s will come back to bite you in your "you know what" in your 30s. One day you will wake up as stiff as a board. Keep moving..literally and figuratively.
4. Everyday do a little something towards your dreams. It all adds up in the end.
5. Don't be afraid to TAKE (educated) RISK. People will doubt you even those closest to you but believe in yourself and put your trust in God.
6. Every crappy job, wack relationship and/or shady friend will teach you a valuable lesson if you don't let bitterness get in the way. Follow your instinct or your first mind.
7. Don't let fear become bigger than your love/faith.
8. Get back to doing the things you enjoyed as a kid...riding bikes, coloring, writing stories, reading, swinging on the swing set, running through the sprinklers etc...Its the simple things.
9. Eat your vegetables and easy on the alcohol
10.Prayer is truly a weapon and a gift from God. It can move mountains.
11. Listen and talk less..I know you like yeah yeah ok but no foreal listen to what everyone has to say..digest it then talk. And talk only when you have something of value to say.
12. You can either be part of the problem or the solution. Negativity is just dead weight.
13. Start from where you are..you don't need grand things to make a great impact.
14. Always be kind, even to those that don't deserve it..tough I know but don't let them drag you in the mud.
15. People will judge you, let them but don't be like them and judge others.
16. People will imitate you and not give you credit but continue to create and innovate while they try to catch up.
17. Expect the best out of others even when they have a bad track record. One day they might surprise you.
18. Don't do for others until you are willing to do it for yourself first.
19. Anger has a domino effect, once you start you cant stop what happens after that. Be slow to anger but quick to give compassion to others and to yourself.
20. Your parents will be right about a lot of things but make sure you are right by living their wisdom.
21. Trust  people because even if you don't that doesn't stop them from screwing you over. But not trusting does push trustworthy people away.
22. You have something important to say even if seems as if no one is listening. Speak it by living as a good example then they will listen.
23. Treat yo self! But don't go overboard. Savings in the bank will feel better during an emergency than your spectacular wardrobe.
24. Don't tell everyone everything. Many people don't care or will use it against you.
25. Cherish the things you have.. most importantly people. We are our greatest resource not things.
26. Learn something new everyday. Its amazing what you need to know how to do when you cant rely on the internet or even electricity. Turn off the tv and learn.

27. Never give up! Look at life as a journey not a destination. Enjoy the moments.
28. Give that extra effort and incorporate your personality to whatever you do. You never know who is looking.
29. Comparison is the death of joy. Be happy doing you and stay in your lane.
30. Don't ask for more out of life than you are willing to give or lose

I hope this list makes you think...

See below what I wore to work on my actual birthday...

Blazer & Bracelets: Avenue
